May, 5-10, 2009: Art Exhibition for Drug Prevention
The Saudi National Association for Drug Prevention has announced that they will be holding an art exhibition for this cause from the 5th till the 10th of May. The event will be held at Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University. It’s held under the patronage of HRH Princess Haifa bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
The official opening of the exhibition will be on the 5th of May at 7:30 pm.
May, 1-6, 2009: Art Exhibition of Saudi Artist Awatif Al-Keneibit
Artist Awatif Al-Keneibit exhibits her work at Prince Sultan University till the 6th of May, 2009. The show, entitled A Ceramic Journey, depicts the artist’s journey from inspiration, to exploration and conclusion through her ceramic works of art. The theme of her ceramic works of art revolve around women and the Islamic faith. The Saudi artist’s exhibition was opened to the public on the 16th of April. The opening ceremony included an opening speech by Dr Fadia Al-Salah, Dean of the College, Mrs, Latifa Al-Sudeiry, Chairman of the Engineering Department, and Mrs Rinad Al Sekeit.
The exhibition is open till the 6th of May: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
April, 12, 2009: Alzheimer’s Disease Association Event
launch of The Saudi Alzheimer Disease Association on April 12th, 2009, at Nayyara Hall. The founding members of the association have been striving to launch in order to begin the awareness campaign about such a vicious disease. As early as June 2006, Dr. Sahar Maziad Al-Tuwaijri began her journey of commitment to a cause that is worthy of our devotion, and soon enough, her work will be paid off, and her dream will be realized.
The team at Oasis Magazine is proud to officially cover the upcoming event of The Saudi Alzheimer’s Disease Association. Our support to such efforts is imperative for achieving the ultimate goal of awareness.

May, 3-9, 2009: Saudi Artists Group Exhibition
Rabe’eyat 2009, or Spring 2009, is an exhibition of 29 Saudi artists. The exhibition, which will be taking place from the 3rd of May till the 9th of May at Jeddah’s Al Alamia Gallery, should be a good one as most of the artists included are accomplished ones with many international exhibits to their names.

March, 15, 2009 - April, 15, 2009: Ahmed Mater Al-Ziad Aseeri’s solo exhibition
Ahmed Mater exhibits his new set of artwork at Dubai’s Art Space gallery. The exhibition is taking place from the 15th of March till the 15th of April, 2009. The venue is located in the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), on the second floor of the third building of the Gate Village.

May, 7, 2009: Sotheby’s Sale of historic photographs relating to Saudi Arabia
Sotheby’s London announced that its Travel, Atlases, Maps and Natural History sale on Thursday 7th May 2009 will include two important and rare collections of photographs relating to Saudi Arabia & the Middle East. “The first is a historic album of photographs recording the first British royal visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in 1938 which coincided with the discovery of commercial quantities of oil in the region (est. £50,000-70,000) as well as a collection of never-before-seen photographs of the Hajj to Makkah in 1908 by Dr Muhammad al Husayni, who was known to have been a photographer but until now his photographs have not been seen in public and his work was thought not to have survived (est. £50,000-70,000). The sale, comprising a total of 252 lots and expected to raise in excess of £1.7 million, also includes a comprehensive selection of 150 maps from Arabia dating from the 15th to the 20th century (est. £180,000-220,000).”
