The first edition of Saudi Design Week celebrated Saudi Arabia and its creative scene by hosting a series of events across the capital, Riyadh. The event, which aimed to create a platform to discuss design hosted a series of events, curated exhibitions and series of talks that covered multiple disciplines from decorative art, design, to art, photography, typography, and fashion.

Saudi Design Week’s Design Forum hosted several Influential personas from the fields of fashion, de- sign, art, and business who came together to dis- cuss, explore and debate some of the most pressing issues facing the design field in the region today. Such personalities included CEO of Alfa Group HRH Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, Chief Executive of the The Fine Art Fund Group Philip Hoffman, Fair Director of Design Days Dubai Cyril Zammit, Assistant Professor Dr. Maha Senan, award winning director Deborah Riley Draper, King of Vintage and Creative Director Cameron Silver, Photographer Faisal Malki, artist Manal Al Doway- an, artist Abdulnasser Gharem, industrial designer Khalid Shafar, and many more acclaimed speakers and guests.

The forum acted as a center stage for a series of stimulating speeches, panel discussions, presentations and Q&A sessions, which generated an enriching dialogue and set the tone and agenda for future editions of SDW.

With a series of open events that extend beyond one main venue, Saudi Design Week 2014 gathered under a single roof both international and local masters of design as well as emerging artists. Participating venues included aura store, Cities Boutique, The Globe Gallery at Al Faisaliah Hotel, Harvey Nichols Riyadh, Lam Art Gallery, Naila Art Gallery and the King Faisal Foundation.

Preparations for the highly anticipated 2015 fair are currently underway. SDW 2015 will take place mid 2015. The fair’s website will be continually updated with the fair’s details and events.
